Lanchester Centurions Motorcycle Club (UK)

Lanchester Centurions Motorcycle Club are a neutral, non-political club & claim no territory. It’s just about the bikes, trikes & having a good time, simple as that!

We ride all types of bike & trikes from the mild to the f**ked up wild.

We meet every Wednesday in The Black Bull (in the lounge), Lanchester, at 8pm.

New prospective members are welcome on any make or model of motorcycle or trike.

Please note that our official meets are held on the 2nd & last Wednesdays of the month and as such, guests may be asked to wait in the bar while club business is discussed.

Lanchester Centurions MCC informs you that there will be no Ben Hur Rally in the future.

This has been a difficult decision, but after 20 successful years the whole club feel it is time to stop.

May we take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you who has supported us at The Ben Hur Rally over the past 20 years, be it as an attendee, a trader or as part of the infrastructure of the rally.

We hope to see you at other rallies throughout the year.

Ride Safe!

Lanchester Centurions Motorcycle Club History:

It all started back in 1992. Alan Seymour and Terry Harrison were sitting in the Kings Head having a pint when Bob Madrell came over to shoot the breeze.

It wasn’t long before the subject of bikes came up and the idea of getting together for a chat to relieve the boredom of not getting out on the bikes during the off season. One thing leads to a barrel of frogs & posters were put up at the ‘Hill’, some in Durham and more locally advertising the new club which was to be called the Lanchester M.C.C.

Two of our current & still active members, Alan Seymour & David Jackson, were among the founders of the club.

The first meeting was held at Alan’s house & a week later we were joined by Geoff Osmond and his wife Helen. The next meeting was held at Bob’s and after a few weeks at the Bluebell although a permanent place for many years was found at the King’s Head. We now meet in The Black Bull at the top of Front Street.

A ride out by Terry and Alan to Weardale, resulted in a chance meeting with Witton lads who joined the following week.

After about two years, the club logo was changed from the Harley/Eagle wings & bike wheel to the Roman Centurion helmet and the name changed to Lanchester Centurions.

More recently the club patch has evolved into the one above, we still retain & proudly wear the older club patch , however, only full & current members wear the patch to the right.
