Queens Regimental Riders Association (UK)

UK

QRRA – Queens Regimental Riders Association formed June 2013.

We are ex-servicemen of the County Regiment from all Battalions of The Queen’s Regiment, which for many years had it’s Regimental Head Quarters based at Howe Barracks in Canterbury.

The Queen’s Regiment traces its history back to 1661 – a direct descendant of the 2nd Regiment of foot, England’s Senior Regiment of the line.

The Regiment was “The Infantry Regiment” of South East England, including most of London. It stemmed directly from the following county Regiments of Surrey, Kent, Sussex and Middlesex.

The period of the Queen’s Regiment’s life was one of the most momentous in our country’s history; indeed, in the history of the world. It saw revolutions in technology, wars, unprecedented disasters and starvation.

Following the Governments ‘Options for change’ in July 1991, the Regiment was amalgamated with The Royal Hampshire Regiment, to form the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment.

In 1992, the Queen’s Regiment was amalgamated with The Royal Hampshire Regiment.
